WhatsApp Introduces Companion Mode for iPhone Users

WhatsApp, the popular cross-platform messaging service owned by Meta, has unveiled a new feature called companion mode for iPhone users. Initially launched for Android smartphones, companion mode allows users to link one WhatsApp account to multiple devices. Now, iPhone users can also enjoy this convenient functionality.

With companion mode enabled, all linked devices synchronize directly with the cloud. This means that even if the primary iPhone is not connected to the internet, companion devices will still receive text messages, multimedia, voice notes, and more. However, it's important to note that if the primary device loses internet access for an extended period, WhatsApp will automatically log out from the companion devices.

The latest stable version of WhatsApp for iOS, 23.10.76, is currently being rolled out in phases. According to the changelog on the App Store, the update will be available to all eligible iPhone users within a week. Once updated, users can link their existing WhatsApp account from a primary Android or iOS device to up to three additional iPhones.

Setting up companion mode is simple. Users can follow the setup process, click on "link this device to an existing account," and scan the barcode on the iPhone from the primary smartphone to add it as a companion device. Although we were able to install the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS on an iPhone, the companion feature is not yet available. It is expected to be rolled out in the next few days.

Stay tuned for the upcoming release of companion mode on WhatsApp for iPhone, which promises to enhance the messaging experience by allowing users to seamlessly connect multiple devices to a single account.

Apple Plans to Remove "Hey" from "Hey Siri" Activation Phrase

Apple is reportedly considering a change to the activation phrase for its virtual assistant, Siri, in the upcoming iOS 17 update. This alteration, if implemented, would replace the long-standing method that users have relied upon to access Siri on their iPhones, Macs, and other Apple device According to a recent tweet by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple's forthcoming announcements may include this modification to the way Siri is triggered. Gurman had previously mentioned in a report last November that Apple is working on a new feature to enable Siri to understand and respond to commands without requiring the "Hey Siri" trigger phrase. The simplified command would solely involve saying "Siri Apple is currently testing the removal of "Hey" from the activation phrase to streamline the user experience. Despite appearing to be a minor change, execu...
