Vertex AI, Google Cloud's machine learning platform as a service (ML PaaS) offering, has officially made generative AI support available, according to an announcement by Google.
The company stated in a blog post, "At Google Cloud, our goal is to ensure that generative AI is accessible to everyone. Achieving this requires more than just providing powerful foundational models to businesses, governments, and developers. Models also need to be supported by platforms that facilitate rapid and secure adoption, with entry points that cater to organizations regardless of their software or data science expertise."
The company further added, "With this update, developers can access our text model powered by PaLM 2, the Embeddings API for text, and other foundational models available in Model Garden. Additionally, they can take advantage of user-friendly tools in Generative AI Studio for model tuning and deployment."
Model Garden, which currently offers over 60 accessible models with more on the way, enables users to explore and experiment with foundational models from Google and its partners. Meanwhile, Vertex AI provides a comprehensive range of tools to assist model developers in fine-tuning, deploying, and managing models in production.
"We are also excited to announce that our Codey model for code completion, generation, and chat is now available for public preview," stated the company.
Back in March of this year, Google initially revealed the availability of generative AI support on Vertex AI and began collaborating with trusted testers.
