HCLTech Establishes Cutting-Edge 5G Test Lab in Chennai

In a recent announcement, HCLTech revealed the inauguration of its advanced test lab in Chennai. The primary objective of this facility is to empower global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the telecommunications industry to effectively test and validate their 5G solutions.

The newly launched lab boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including high-end scanners, specifically designed to facilitate the testing of large cellular base stations and compact antennas utilized in an array of devices such as mobile phones, smart gadgets, health monitoring systems, and remote surveillance systems.

Vijay Guntur, the President of Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech, emphasized the expertise of their team, comprising highly experienced and skilled engineers dedicated to ensuring meticulous testing and verification of both cellular and non-cellular products.

Currently, the lab is equipped to test and validate 5G telecom antennas across frequency bands reaching up to 7 GHz. Moreover, its scalability allows for the testing of millimeter-wave frequency 5G infrastructure, enabling OEMs and telecom service providers to swiftly and accurately measure critical parameters. These parameters play a vital role in expediting time to market for telecom infrastructure OEMs, optimizing cellular networks, and delivering seamless connectivity for voice and data.

“These parameters help telecom infrastructure OEMs accelerate time to market, optimize cellular network and deliver seamless connectivity on voice and data,” added Guntur.

The launch of this 5G test lab in Chennai solidifies HCLTech's position as a leading player in the field of telecommunications engineering and research and emphasizes their dedication to delivering cutting-edge solutions that shape the future of connectivity

Apple Plans to Remove "Hey" from "Hey Siri" Activation Phrase

Apple is reportedly considering a change to the activation phrase for its virtual assistant, Siri, in the upcoming iOS 17 update. This alteration, if implemented, would replace the long-standing method that users have relied upon to access Siri on their iPhones, Macs, and other Apple device According to a recent tweet by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple's forthcoming announcements may include this modification to the way Siri is triggered. Gurman had previously mentioned in a report last November that Apple is working on a new feature to enable Siri to understand and respond to commands without requiring the "Hey Siri" trigger phrase. The simplified command would solely involve saying "Siri Apple is currently testing the removal of "Hey" from the activation phrase to streamline the user experience.
